🧗 OUTDOOR CLIMBING DAY 🧗 Saturday 26th April. We've got a spring in our step about the warmer weather and what better way to celebrate than by heading to Stanage and dusting off our climbing shoes. Sign ups on the forum.

🏠 High House meet 🏠

What a cracker of a hut this is! This meet we had Wainwright bagging, trail running, gravel biking, and of course pubbing, all from the hut door. You can't beat it.

We are already plotting our return, but in the meantime, next meet is Deiniolen 28th-30th March! We'll be counting down the days.

Well well well some winter conditions in the Lakes for our lucky Mercians! Some members got stuck into imaginative gully I beneath Helvellyn. Others some classic Lakes hikes and of course everyone got stuck into @ruthwragg's birthday cake 🎂

Some beautiful hiking, gnarly biking, tidal running and a 'friendly' neighbourhood horse. What more could we have asked for on this weekend's meet! Merci @fridaye_next for a superb early Burns night supper and a galette de rois 🫅 for dessert. Délicieux!

With the promise of a fantastic forecast some of our members decided to stay on and boy were they rewarded.

Beinn a'Bheithir towers above the village of Ballachulish and after 5 days of gazing at it from the hut conditions finally delivered. Ascending the two munros that make up this mountain via Schoolhouse ridge is a Scottish mountaineering classic. What a way to start the year! The cherry on top of the cake was a spectacular show of the northern lights above the hut on New Year's Day. Scotland at her absolute best 💙🏔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Naomi’s abseiling for one of the many sport multi pitches on Costa Blanca. This was a 55m abseil from near the top of the crag - great value 😀. People spread across the crag and hit up the best routes, and it was great to get the occasional photo of them from a great vantage point.

Whilst it’s getting a bit chilly at home some folk from the club are away for a week at a lovely villa in Costa Blanca (with a pool, but it’s a bit cold 🥶). Here Andy is leading P2 of the classic route up Toix. A pretty tough lead on day one and arguably the plum route of the day 💪. On the whole it was scorchio ☀️.

Remember remember the 2nd of November. The most explosive day of the Mercian calendar. The fireworks were epic, the fire was warm and the mulled wine was flowing! The cameras were all pointing at the fireworks, so we missed a crowd photo!
