18/19th January - Langdale, Lake District
Fellow Mercians,
On behalf of the committee let me wish you all a Happy New Year.
I'm pleased to announce that the first meet of the year will take place the weekend of 18th and 19th January, in Langdale (Lake District).
We will be staying in the Robertson Lamb Hut, which is a very comfortable hut, with an open fire and good amenities, with walks possible directly from the hut.
The Langdale is a great valley with lots to do. The Langdale Fells to the north are very impressive, and readily accessible from the hut, no need to drive. If heading that way, I would recommend Jacks Rake, an improbably grade 1 scramble, probably not much more than 1 hours walk away. This is one of the best scrambles in the Lakes (bring harness and helmet), and a must do!

The head of the valley provides instant access to Bowfell via Angle Tarn, with a great circular walk heading south taking in the tops of Crinkle Crags, Long Top and Great Knott, before decending back into Langdale.

From Angle Tarn it's possible to access Great End (top winter venue if conditions play ball) and even head onto Scafell Pike if you fancy a big day.
And if it rains for two days straight, then Ambleside is only 20 minutes drive away!
All in all it's a top venue and sure to be popular.
We have 12 places currently booked, although it does sleep more and we may be able to get those spaces if there is sufficient interest.
The cost of the accommodation is £20 for the weekend, which is terrific value given the hut and its location.
If you would like to attend then please sign up below. First come first served.
If anyone would like to volunteer to cook a communal meal, then please post your interest on the forum, and if anyone is in need of a lift up there then, again, stick your thumb out on the forum.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there.
Peace out,
Karlos

Lift
Harriet and I will be driving to the meet from south of Birmgingham, leaving 7ish on Friday and returning after a full day on Sun.
We have space for one other. Any takers?
Alternatively we would accept a lift off someone else if they have similar plans.

..Though both meals sound good - is it a spacious enough kitchen for cooking both meals? Looking forward, especially after a post ski comedown! H
