Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
Eeeek, thanks for the reminder, Simon!
Does anyone have any spare crampons for size 10 feet (for use on Sunday only), and a couple of ice axes we might be able to borrow? Even one will do.
Alternatively does anyone know somewhere where you can hire them that is close to the hut?
Thanks
Anna

Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
I know that Rigby hired some from the gear shop in Ambleside before. It was the one on the corner by the rock shop (the one that disappointingly sells bits of rock and not climbing gear).
Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
Anna - I have 1 set of walking crampons and a walking axe you can borrow.
You can hire kit from http://www.adventurepeaks.com/uk-equipment-hire
I'd suggest if you just need kit for Sunday you might want to collect it the day before as they don't open till 9am.

Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
Thanks Simon! Please can I take you up on the offer of the crampons and ice axe. So just need one ice axe now. I will be picking Sascha up from the station so will see if there is a gear shop there.

Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
Just rung Cyclewise shop at Whinlatter trail centre (much higher than grizedale), and they said riding conditions are fine, snow has gone for the foreseable. Bosch.
Its forecast to be dry on sat with a bit of sun which is perfect, though a bit nippy and breezy, so bring warm gloves and a spare layer etc.
I'm keen to do Whinlatter on sat, as its my favourite and further away, and Grizedale sculpture land on Sun, and those that aren't walking/paragliding are welcome to join me on both.
Cheers, H

Hopefully a friend Paul is, off the old man of coniston. Forecast doesn't look too windy at the moment
Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
Hi All, I've got a bag of kindling and a bag of logs to bring up, so we don't need any more kindling. Maybe another bag of logs might be good. H
Re: Irish Row 2-3rd Feb
good news, we will be on the meet too
Planning a walk/SCRAMBLE (GRADE 3) UP SCAFELL on Sat
Starting from Brotherilkeld MAP OL6 GR 213012
scramble is in 'scrambles and easy climbs in the Lake District'
p68 Cam spout then 19 scafell south east side on page 70
If you want to join in, meet at the above car park between 9.15 and 9.30am
I've done it this way as there are lots on the meet,
Might be worth a text to let me know your coming along
If not see you at the pub sat night
