Snow week 16th - 23rd Feb

Post by Huw »

Hi All

**Booking for this meet also on thursday the 10th Jan at the Wagon and Horses at 10.*

I can finally confirm the accommodation for the snow week, which is chalet/s at inchree:

http://www.inchree.co.uk/accommodation/chalets/

We’ve booked a single 6 person chalet, and at last check there is another available, which we can look to book on thur if required.

Cost is approx £11 per person per night, it may be less, I’m waiting for email confirmation. At last check, nights of sat 16th to fri, leaving on sat 23rd feb.

The Glencoe ski resort has 19runs and 7 lifts, plus obviously the wealth of mountainous areas in Scotland to explore on foot.

See you at the Wagon and Horses, all the best, Huw

Is anybody else sensing it might be time for Huw to take his medicine? :)

Looking like the conditions are forecast to shape up nicely:

I'm planning to take my Snowboard, if it'll go in the car! Anyone planning to walk will need to bring (in addition to your normal walking kit):
  • Ice Axe
  • Crampons
  • Ski Goggles (you're blind in a blizzard without)
  • Head Torch (the days are still very short)
Climbers will need
  • Pair of axes
  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Belay plate
Some possible climbs:

conditions look awesome at glen coe and nevis range. I'm planning to ski every day conditions allow and go walking otherwise.

Anyone know any good ski hire places up there?

Are we doing communal cooking and if so are we going to do a big shop up there rather than take stuff up?

if we are cooking I'll do one night. Definitely be better to shop up there, the cars will be packed to the rafters as it is.

I'll definitely join you smashing it down the piste Tom. Hopefully the chalet can reccommend a decent hire place. And i'm a dab hand at pizza and cooked breakfasts if that helps, well, ok.
