Annual Dinner Meet Buckfastleigh: 29th-31st October

It's the annual dinner! After a 2020 covid hiatus we finally get to go to the South Dartmoor Bunkhouse, in the world renowned Devonshire town of Buckfastleigh.

Famous for its monk brewed, violence inducing barley wine, it sounds like the perfect location for a civilised Mercian annual dinner. I'm told there's climbing nearby, along with walks on the moors, lovely rivers, the South Devon coast and the famous Abbey itself, home of the Buckfast Monks. There's also the dream combination of a steam train and otter/butterfly sanctuary for the more C team inclined.
We have 16 beds booked, at £17 pppn. We need to leave cash payment at the hut, so please bring real money and change!
It's the annual dinner, so custom dictates we head out for a pub meal on the Saturday evening. Details as follows....

-Oven roasted tomato soup, grilled sour dough bread
-Goats cheese & beetroot salad
-Smoked Mackerel mousse, apple & celery salsa
MAINS- ALL £12
-Grilled chicken breast, puy lentil, winter vegetable and wild mushroom ragout
-Pan fried seabass, smoked paprika ratatouille, roasted almonds
-Slow cooked beef in red wine, button mushrooms, winter vegetables & soft mash
-Roasted butternut squash risotto, charred broccoli, crispy leeks & toasted pinenuts
PUDS £5
-Homemade Chocolate mousse
-Warm treacle tart, clotted cream
