Northumberland - August bank holiday 25-28
Hello Mercians
After an outstandingly short camping season (has anyone been more than once?) the last camping meet is upon us. At the request of many a Taylor, we will be heading to Winsheilds farm near Hadrians wall.
What is there to do? The obvious answer is to go for a walk on Hadrians wall (you might see the tree from Robin Hood). Walk to Lough Crag and climb a few routes in the bank holiday sunshine. Go to Kielder Forest, by day for a lap of the trail centre, by night to marvel at the stars in the 'Dark Skies Park'. If the weather is a bit bank holidayish the medieval village of Hexham is just down the road, and there are 2 pubs within 500m of the campsite.
There are 6 space booked. First come first served, after that you will have to book yourself. Still sign up on the forum so we we know who is going. When you book no deposit is required, but don't leave it too long it could fill up quick on a bank holiday.
£9 person/night, 50p car/night.

Sorry, I'm not allowed to go.
It's not a campervan friendly site.

Malc suggest you put a tent up and say the van is your transport. Or put a tarpaulin over your van and call it a tent!

Message from Roland:
I am now at the Winfield camp site. Please could you let the others coming for this weekend know that the camp site owner does not want cars driven or parked on the grass.
The site seems quiet at this time. I am in the Horizon 4 tent with a stripy windshield in front of it.
