Brimham Rocks, Yorkshire 19 -21 June

Hi all

Right, following an excellent Tradfest weekend, time to look forward to the next meet. This one’s a flat cap and whippets job up in Yorkshire, staying at this campsite near Harrogate:

http://www.manorhousecaravans.co.uk/ Map Ref 264605 on OS map 99 Northallerton & Ripon

Prices are £15 per night for a 2 man tent, £8 per night for a 1 man, no charge for cars. BBQs are allowed. I’ve booked 12 tents but there should be scope for more if needed. (Please note the campsite does not accept cards or cheque though, so BRING CASH!!)

The plan for most would be a short drive to some quirky type climbing in Brimham rocks, a new area for most of us and the weirdly shaped rock will be a novelty – worth checking out the grades you would normally climb though to see how this suits you (although there are plenty of other options for good climbing/walking/tea shop perusing in the area if it doesn’t). Check out these websites as a starter for 10:

Note some top tips for the weekend (thanks to Geoff):

- Parking at Brimham rocks is Nat Trust and therefore expensive . Any members of NT should have a sticker in their car or membership card to hand to avoid this charge. (Vote we all find the NT member and pile in their car).
- There are excellent fish chips available at the Wetherby Whaler in Wetherby. Go into Wetherby, cross river turn left at roundabout and approx. 80 m on your right, open till 11pm. Opposite pub called 3 legs I think. (We've been patrons for over 30 years)
- Bear in mind 50mph radar limit on M1 for 15 miles starting at A38 junction North . Can be big delays, particularly on a Friday.

So that’s the plan, who’s in?

Hi.
Yes, add me in for this one please.
Need a lift too, from Moseley, if possible. Perhaps I should arrange nearer the time.
Thanks,
Clare

I'm in as well. Clare-what's the earliest you could leave? Julie and I are sharing a car but would like to leave around 5 if possible?

Hi, I just checked out the price for parking at Brimham Rocks: its free for National Trust members with a sticker (as Julie said), otherwise £5 for 4 hours or £6 all day. Coins only.

We'll probably meet you there as we'll drive up from Sheffield on Saturday morning. It would be great if some one would let me know where you end up.
