Mercian Mountaineering Club

Hello folks

Well, here it is - the first camping meet of the year, summer must be on the way. Thank you to Louise for researching and booking this one, I take no credit.

For the first, and hopefully sunny May Bank Holiday weekend, we will be eating ice creams on this campsite in the renowned climbing spot of Swanage, Dorset:

Lots to do including climbing, beaches, coastal walks, swimming or just having a chilled out few days. We have 10 - 15 pitches booked and there is no need for deposits, it's a pay for yourself when you get there sketch. Although please still sign up on the forum so that people can arrange car shares etc.

And if someone with a BBQ wants to lug that down we can start the Mercian BBQ season in style. Also time to dig out the club pennant and gazebo - any idea who has this?

Wow, big meet – we will ask the campsite for more pitches but for all those in the luxury of a single tent – be aware we might have to consider tent sharing – will keep you updated.

Also, 1 BBQ may not be enough - suggest for those who have even a smallish BBQ, bring it along!

Sign me up. I'm looking forward to dipping my big toe in the sea, making a "Brrrrr" sound, and then going climbing. I plan on going down on Thursday night (if the weather is good) to get a bonus day of climbing in on Friday and to bag a good spot to pitch the tent.

I anticipate I'll have Vicki with me. If we can get the pennant I'll fly the colours for you to flock towards.

I've got the latest Dorset Rockfax. The club has a slightly older version of the Rockfax from 2005 in the library too - nice spreadsheet Lou ; ), very user friendly. Someone should grab that.
