Dearest Mercians,

I'm pleased to annouce that the next Mercian Mountaineering Club meet will takes place over the weekend of 25th and 26th October at Froggatt, in the delightful county of Derbyshire.

We will be staying a the Downes Hut, owned by the Climbers Club.

This is a well maintained and spacious hut, which I don't think we've visited before.

The club normally only visits the Peaks for day meets, when we rush up in the morning, climb all day, then head straight back home. Wouldn't it be nice to relax a bit, and see what else the area has to offer? Ofcourse there's a chance that the weather will be good enough for climbing (I'll be bringing my rack just in case), but the Peaks has some spectacular walks, so why not come along and explore on foot.

This would be a good first time meet for those fairly new to the club - a comfy hut not too far away - so l would encourage a good turn out.

We've got 10 places booked at the moment, but it sleeps a lot more and imagine I could increase this. The cost will be £12pppn.

Bookings via email or on the forum, you know the score.

TTFN,

Karlos

We wanted to come to this one but unfortunately the car is booked in for some work on Saturday. :(

FYI the Mercian had a couple of meets at that hut forty years ago, when it was rather more primitive than it appears to be now from the pictures!

Roland,

Thank you very much for the offer of the free range chicken. Regrettably I will not be taking you up on the offer.

Thankfully, I have no morales when it comes to pineapples - the spikey b@stards!

Cheers,

Karl

Roland,

Matt has the key and he will bring it to the pub tonight. Suggest you take it since it sounds like you will be there first.

Cheers,

Karl

Thanks to all attendees on this weekends meet. It was a great with lots of routes getting done. Saturday was more damp, and Sunday more cold, but that didn't stop me climbing 11 routes. Well done to Adam for one of his first leads, and to Pearce for leading that HVS.
