1st/2nd February - Capel Curig
Posted: 24 Jan 2014, 23:32
Fellow Mercians,
I'm pleased to announce that the next meet will take place on the weekend of 1st/2nd February, in Capel Curig in North Wales.
We will be staying at the Tan-Y-Garth, that old faithful hut on the other side of the river to the fine Tyn Y Coed drinking establishment.

For those fairly new to the club, Capel Curig makes a great base to enjoy the best that Snowdonia has to offer. Quick access to the Llanberis and Ogwen Valleys, means you are never far from some great mountains. And you could always take a walk out of the hut and straight up Moel Siabod, with it's great grade 1 scramble up the Daear Ddu ridge (left hand skyline on the photo below).

Now the weather has been a little unsettled of late, but as anyone who was up in the snow on Crinkle Crags on the Sunday of the last meet will tell you, even a grim looking day can surprise you (just don't ask them about the Saturday!). And I have it on good authority from God himself that the weather will be fair.
The hut is a good one, which is why we keep going back. A comfy and cosy lounge, and plenty of space in the upstairs dorm. Hut fees will be £10pppn. We have all twenty places booked. Volunteers to cook would obviously be appreciated. And remember a couple of nuggets for the electricity meter.
And if you still aren't tempted, it's Huw's birthday, and we have plans to tar and feather him!
Hope to see you there......
