Irish Row 2-3rd Feb

Hi All

*This meet is taking bookings on thur 10th Jan at the Wagon and Horses after climbing about 10.*

The most important thing to say is not to be distracted by Tan-y-garth, as this is the weekend of my birthday so is a definite priority!

The hut website is http://www.theymc.org.uk/pages/hut-guests.shtml , accommodates 20people and is £10pp per night.

In a great area for mountaineering and biking (for the latter, Whinlatter up the road and also some big mountain routes).

For saturday night, a selection of pubs just 20min walk down the road in coniston (http://www.theymc.org.uk/pages/hut-guests-map.shtml).

See you thur,
Huw

Bloody hell! We'll be taking over the entire pub at this rate. :) Shame we can't get this turn out for every meet. Maybe if we get someone on the committee to pretend it's their birthday every time...

I was saying on Thurs it might be worth ringing the pub and seeing if they'll do us a deal on beer or do us a lock in etc if we say we're bringing a crowd? The Black Bull in Coniston gets my vote.

Booking the pub sounds like a good plan. I'll check out what the options are, and also for food as some people will probably want to eat there too (ie me!)

Hm, yeah i guess a table needs booking at the least. Can those that would like to eat at the pub please reply on this thread then, and someone can book a table or two. I would guess it'll be at the bull for around 7pm. I've spoken to the place, and they do take food bookings for big groups, we could get the lounge. Getting a deal on drinks didn't sound promising Morris, but i'll try the manager when he's in in the morn. The menu is: http://www.blackbullconiston.co.uk/sample-menu.html .

From replies by email and conversations, people for food so far: (correct me if i'm wrong)

1 Tom M
2 Jules
3 Myself
4 Fabian
5 Paul C &
6 Amy
7 Kate &
8 Will
9 Andy
10 Pete
11 Holly J

15 Jodie
16 Adam
17 Louise
18 Roland
19 Vijay
20 Vicki
21 Stewart

Quick note to remind people that even though its pissing down in the Midlands there's still snow forecast in the hills

http://m.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/Eng ... /long.html

If you're hoping to get out on the tops you MUST bring crampons (and ideally an ice axe) with you. Don't assume you will be able to get by without.
