Canal boating, 24-26 Sept 2021

Hi Mercians!

Huw and I have been using our lockdown time productively to hatch some narrowboating plans for 2021.

We are planning a weekend on the canals which has been rescheduled to 24-26th Sept 2021, by which point hopefully some sort of normality will have resumed!

The plan is to follow a route from Lower Heyford into Oxford and return over the course of the weekend. It covers all the bases; locks, canalside pubs, picturesque countryside, tricky river sections, more canalside pubs, and Oxford as a potential wild partying destination for the Saturday night. Sounds great to me!

The hire centre currently has availability for a 12 berth at £100pp plus fuel (which should be minimal between 12). Obviously this includes 2 nights accommodation and entertainment for the weekend. Details here: https://www.oxfordshire-narrowboats.co. ... esults.php

We have to book this quite far in advance and stump up a deposit, so unlike a normal meet we would be asking people to commit up front and pay a 25 per cent deposit. If you are interested could you please sign up below in the next two weeks (by 24th May) so we get an idea of numbers and can make sure we book the right sized boat.

We would then need you to transfer a deposit of £25 to the club account. Details on the email or just ask me if you can't find it.

The balance is due by Friday the 16th July 2021.
